about me

I'm Stephanie Checton Palumbo, a fine artist specializing in traditional oil painting. I create original works on canvas and offer high-quality print reproductions to make my art accessible to a range of collectors.

Art has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I earned my BFA with a concentration in painting from the University of Delaware. After graduation, I spent over 15 years in New York City working in the bespoke invitation and stationery industry, honing my eye for design and detail.

A lifelong New Jersey resident, I now live in Fair Haven with my husband and our three young children. Inspired by the charm of my hometown and the nearby beaches, I draw from the natural beauty around me. When I’m not painting, you’ll likely find me baking, gardening, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time at the beach with my family.

I am currently represented by The Frederick Galleries, Spring Lake, NJ and Gallery Jupiter, Little Silver, NJ.

ARTIST STATEMENT

You know that feeling when you go somewhere beautiful or special to you, and it feels like you're connected to something bigger than us? That sense of peace, wonder, and belonging—those are the moments I aim to capture in my work. Not just the place itself, but the feeling it evokes, like a memory you can step back into.

I find endless inspiration in the beaches and rivers that surround my coastal New Jersey home. The ocean’s rhythm—the pull of the tide, the shimmer of light on water, the ever-shifting colors—grounds and reenergizes me. The beach is my sanctuary, a place where I feel deeply connected both to myself and the world around me.

Painting allows me to return to that meditative space. In the studio, I find the same quiet clarity I feel at the water’s edge. It's a process that calms and re-centers me, and through it, I hope to offer viewers a sense of that same tranquility and emotional resonance. Each piece is an invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect—with nature, with memory, and with something greater than ourselves.
